My Visit to the Technisches Museum (Vienna Museum of Science and Technology)
During our visit to Vienna, my wife, my two boys, and I had the wonderful opportunity to explore the Technisches Museum Vienna, one of the most remarkable museums dedicated to science, technology and engineering in the heart of Europe. This inspiring place offers a unique journey through the history of human innovation, showcasing the developments that have shaped our modern world.
We had the valuable opportunity to experience a wide range of interactive exhibitions, discover fascinating engineering achievements, and gain a deeper understanding of how technology has evolved through time. From electricity and energy to transportation, communication and industrial innovation, the museum provided us with an unforgettable learning experience while highlighting the creativity, knowledge and determination behind many of the technologies we use in our everyday lives.
A Hidden Gem of Engineering and Technology in the Heart of Europe…
One of the highlights of the Technisches Museum Vienna is the opportunity to actively engage with science and technology rather than simply observing exhibits behind glass. Throughout the museum, visitors can explore interactive displays that explain the principles of electricity, mechanics, energy, communication and transportation in a practical and engaging way. From operating mechanical systems and experimenting with scientific concepts to discovering the evolution of aviation, railway engineering and industrial technology, every exhibition encourages curiosity and hands-on learning.
During the Summer of 2025, we had the valuable opportunity to experience a wide range of interactive exhibitions, discover fascinating engineering achievements, and gain a deeper understanding of how technology has evolved through time. From electricity and energy to transportation, communication and industrial innovation, the museum provided us with an unforgettable learning experience while highlighting the creativity, knowledge and determination behind many of the technologies we use in our everyday lives.
That visit reminded me why I fell in love with engineering in the first place, and particularly the fascinating field of electrical engineering. Walking through the halls of the Technisches Museum Vienna brought back memories of my childhood, when I was always curious about how things worked and fascinated by the machines, electrical devices and technologies that surrounded us in everyday life. I remember spending time observing different mechanisms, asking questions about why something moved, how electricity could make things function, and what ideas were hidden behind every invention. My curiosity was not only about the objects themselves, but also about the creativity, knowledge and problem-solving mindset that allowed engineers and scientists to transform ideas into reality.
I remember spending time closely observing different mechanisms, asking questions about why something moved, how electricity could make things function, and what underlying ideas were hidden behind every invention. My curiosity extended beyond the objects themselves to the creativity, technical knowledge, and problem-solving mindset that allowed engineers and scientists to transform abstract ideas into practical, useful reality.Throughout the years, I found inspiration in the stories of great pioneers who shaped the world we live in today, such as Archimedes, Michael Faraday, James Watt, Thomas Edison and, of course, my favourite inventor and electrical engineer, Nikola Tesla. Visiting museums like the Technisches Museum Vienna is a powerful reminder that every great technological achievement begins with a simple question: “How does this work?”
Through the History of the Electric Lamp
The electric lamp predates LEDs. Early inventors aimed for reliable, efficient, long-lasting light. The incandescent lamp made electric lighting widespread, transforming daily life and cities.
For an electrical engineer, the lamp’s history shows how electricity transformed civilisation—from a quest for artificial light to a technology that reshaped homes, industry and daily life.
I always found the traditional definition of engineering practice to be quite stifling and limiting. I wasn’t truly content doing just one thing. Of course, I loved electrical consulting deeply and passionately, but I also felt a strong desire to pursue writing and academic teaching, engage in delivering seminars and classes to other fellow engineers and electricians, explore book publishing, lighting design, and even some ideas in interior design. Is this new view of a creative life perfect? Not at all. However, through ongoing experimentation and exploration, I've come closer to my childhood vision of a fulfilling life. Every day is an exciting chance to create and discover…

My Visit to Nikola Tesla’s Museum in Belgrade
During the Summer of 2024, my wife, my two boys, and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the fascinating Nikola Tesla museum in Belgrade, Serbia, a truly fascinating place that is dedicated to the life and work of the significant inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla. We had the valuable opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the vast variety of his inventive creations, while also gathering more detailed information about his significant contributions to the ongoing development of modern electricity and technology as a whole.
The excitement on my face was evident, reflecting the sheer joy and enthusiasm I felt in that moment.I wanted to take the time to show my first-born son exactly why I am so deeply passionate about this field of electrical engineering consulting and teaching. I wanted to explain him why I chose to embark on this journey to become an expert consultant engineer and an academic tutor in the first place, highlighting the various experiences and insights that have shaped my career along the way.
Nikola Tesla, a True Genius Man…
Nikola Tesla was an exceptional inventor and engineer. His major contributions to electrical engineering have greatly shaped modern technology. He is most famous for his pioneering work with alternating current (AC) electricity, which transformed how we generate and distribute electrical power over long distances. Tesla's ideas and inventions provided a strong basis for many developments in the electrical industry, and his visionary concepts still impact technology today.
The Tesla coil is the most known symbol of Nikola Tesla's groundbreaking work. It is notably represented by the tall tower at the Tesla Science Center in Shoreham, New York. At this site, Tesla built a large structure with coils that generated bright electric sparks and circulated electricity using alternating current…

Two - Phase Generator
A two-phase generator plays a crucial role in a system that incorporates both synchronous and asynchronous motors. This kind of generator provides the necessary electrical energy to efficiently power these motors, ensuring smooth operational performance and stability within the overall system.
The coordination between the two types of motors allows for versatile applications in various industrial settings.
